The YMCA basketball camp instructor is Scott Burgess. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and has been coaching basketball at the college, high school, junior high and grade school level for 25 years. Mr. Burgess is currently the assistant varsity basketball coach for Danville high school and coaches the sophomore team. Coach Burgess played basketball at Eureka College. At Eureka College Coach Burgess earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Masters of Science in Education Administration from Eastern Illinois University.
What will be taught
Shooting techniques: Grip, release, jump shot, shooting on the move and free throws.
Movement with and without the ball: Pivoting, change of pace, v-cuts and give and go.
Inside techniques: Power moves and back to the basket moves.
Passing: Chest passes, bounce passes, baseball passes and off the dribble passes.
Dribbling: Right and left hand dribbling. Crossover, reverse dribbling, pull backs.
Rebounding: Blocking out, offensive and defensive rebounding tips.
Defense: Man to man defensive techniques and drills.
Individual: Individual offensive moves taught daily.
Motivation: The key to future improvement.
What to Bring
Each camper need to wear basketball attire such as T-shirt, gym shorts, athletic socks, basketball shorts and lots of enthusiasm.

ORIENTATION NIGHT
We will be hosting a summer camp orientation night on Friday, May 29, from 5:30-7:30pm. This is the perfect opportunity for parents to come out and meet the staff, tour the site, and receive an activity calendar and more detailed information about our summer camp.
