Science Camp 1 & 2

Limit: 25 participants in each class.
This summer the YMCA offers a one-week science camp for two age groups, first through fourth grades and fifth through eighth grades. Both camps will have a hands-on science approach with a forensic- “who dunnit” focus. All students will be provided and opportunity to experience hands-on science and relate their discoveries to everyday observations.
The science camp will revolve around a “Solve the Mystery” theme. The students will be entertained as they discover how to distinguish lip prints, footprints, and fingerprints, decipher coded notes and various inks in order to determine who stole the cookies! Several demonstrations will also be conducted. Beth Chamberlain, Chris Dryer, and Tyler Ferber, science teachers from Danville High School will conduct the science camps. Beth has been an instructor for 20 years in the areas of chemistry, physics, and engineering and has developed 9 previous science camps. Chris teaches biology and physical science. Tyler teaches chemistry and physical science at DHS. Chris and Tyler are both experienced science camp instructors.

ORIENTATION NIGHT
We will be hosting a summer camp orientation night on Friday, June 4, from 5:00-7:00pm. This is the perfect opportunity for parents to come out and meet the staff, tour the site, and receive an activity calendar and more detailed information about our summer camp.
