Children at Camp

Gymnastics

Girls and Boys ages 7 years and older, who are interested in gymnastics, the YMCA gymnastics camp is for you. This camp is a great opportunity to learn more about gymnastics and to have fun. Gymnastics camp at the YMCA will teach you basic and intermediate skills using the four gymnastics events (vault, bars, beam and floor).

Basketball Camp

The YMCA basketball camp instructor is Scott Burgess. He is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and has been coaching basketball at the college, high school, junior high and grade school level for 24 years.

Safe and Healthy Kids

This camp supports the healthy growth and development of kids. Campers will receive educational material and participate in age appropriate group activities. There will be a guest speaker each day.

Cheerleading Camp

This camp, for kids in grades 3-8 is an introduction to cheerleading and will cover proper arm movement and terminology, proper jump techniques, dance steps, partner stunts and mounts, proper stretching and safety precautions.

Talking Hands/Sign Language

Sign language is now one of the most popular languages to learn and this camp is for kids in grades K &45; 8. Campers will learn about the deaf culture and some basic communication skills in that language.

Leaders-In-Training

In this one week leaders program, teens will learn leadership skills that can be used in all parts of life, including home, school, sports, youth groups, and in the community. Through challenging activities, workshop, and discussions, the leadership skills learned will include communication; teamwork; setting goals and making plans to achieve them.

Water Safety/Begin to Swim

The Water Safety and Junior Lifeguard will be structured like our Splash program here at the YMCA. These camps will teach children the basic water safety, pool safety and boating safety.

Science Camp

This summer the YMCA offers a one week science camp for two age groups, first through fourth grades and fifth through eighth grades. Both camps will have a hands-on science approach with an engineering focus. All students will be provided an opportunity to experience hands-on science and relate their discoveries to everyday observations.

Nature/A Walk in the Woods

Let your child's natural curiosity for nature be discovered. The nature camp is designed for fifth through eighth grade students to gain an appreciation of nature, while learning safety in the woods and the basics of nature awareness through exploration and exercise.
